We handle the logistics - transport, meals, accommodation - so you can focus on the moment, not the management.
You carry what you need. We carry the rest.
We live here. You'll be supported by locals who know the trail and care about every step you take
Every hike completed is an achievement. We treat it like one.
From environmental impact to local partnerships, we design every hike to tread lighter and give something back.
We're not a corporate walking company. We're small, local and hands on—and that's the point.
Just a few of the unforgettable spots you'll experience when you wander with us.
Known as Krambruk, meaning "sandy place," by the Gadubanud people, this coastal town is cradled by rolling green hills and backed by lush rainforest. More than just a scenic stop along the Great Ocean Road, Apollo Bay is a vibrant base for walkers and wanderers alike. With fresh local produce, a strong sense of place, and everything you need close at hand, it's the ideal spot to prepare, pause, and set out with purpose.

Some commonly asked questions and answers. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have specific questions about any aspect of your adventure.
We offer a range of self-guided hikes along the Great Ocean Walk, from relaxed 2-day highlights to the full 7-day experience. Whether you are short on time or chasing a challenge, there is an option to suit your goals, pace, and fitness.
All guests stay in private rooms at Captain's at the Bay, a boutique lodge in Apollo Bay. After each day's hike, you'll return to a hot shower, a comfortable bed, and time to relax — without the hassle of packing and unpacking each night.
Accommodation at Captain's at the Bay, all breakfasts and lunches, most or all dinners (depending on your package), daily transfers, full logistical support, and essential safety equipment. You'll also receive the We Who Wander Walk Companion Guide and the official Great Ocean Walk map booklet, plus a few surprises along the way.
The Great Ocean Walk is rated Grade 3, meaning it's generally suitable for most ages and fitness levels. That said, it helps to have some bushwalking experience and a reasonable base of fitness. There are steep staircases, beach sections, and changing conditions. By adjusting the distance and pace, we can shape the experience to suit both relaxed and more adventurous hikers.
We welcome everyone. Whether you're a seasoned hiker looking for a self-paced adventure or someone seeking a more supported introduction to multi-day hiking, our walks are designed to meet you where you're at. We host solo hikers, couples, and groups — and no matter your experience level, you'll be well looked after.
We offer a more elevated hiking experience, with thoughtful inclusions, seamless support, and accommodation that's a step above. Thanks to our direct partnership with Captain's at the Bay and a handful of trusted local partners, we're able to deliver an experience that goes further at a lower price point than the major walking companies.
We hike in all kinds of conditions. That said, we keep a close eye on forecasts and tide times, and we'll adjust plans if anything becomes unsafe. Our support team is always nearby if needed.
Most guests arrive via the Great Ocean Road or the inland Apollo Bay–Forrest route. If you don't have a car, V/Line runs bus services from Melbourne, or we can help arrange transfers from the Melbourne or Geelong areas. If you're driving, secure parking is available on-site at Captain's at the Bay, so there's no need to leave your car on the street or at a trailhead.
Our first season begins September 2025 — with a limited number of spots available. Secure yours before they're gone.
